Wool Pots - A Plant Pot Revolution
What Are Wool Pots?
Wool Pots are zero-waste plant pots that improve plant growth. We take unloved British wool and turn it into sustainable, biodegradable and environmentally friendly plastic-free plant pots.
They are not only better for the planet but also better for your plants.
500 million plastic plant pots get sent to landfill in the UK every year.
Farmers are struggling with an excess of wool that has little value, many have resorted to burning it. Wool Pots were created to help with both of these key issues - reducing plastic in horticulture and supporting famers.
Wool Pots are proud members of the Campaign for Wool and work with some of the leading Horticultural institutions to show that there is an environmentally friendךy alternative to plastic pots.
Wool Pots are a zero-waste solution to a big plastic problem.

Not bad for a plant pot!
-
Our Wool Pots are made from
‘unloved’ wool that would otherwise be discarded, burned, or buried -
Wool Pots come with minimal
packaging, a small length of
yarn secures each bundle of 10 pots accompanied by a small card label with instructions -
Wool is a natural material, whereas every 1kg of plastic manufactured produces 6kg of CO2
-
We have created a plant pot that supports farmers, reduces the mountain of unwanted wool, protects plants, and benefits the planet, not bad for a plant pot!
The Wonder of Wool

- proven to use 20-30% less water than a plastic pot breaks down into a delicious plant food

The Plastic Problem
500 million plastic plant pots are sent to landfill in the UK every year, a further 500 million are incinerated each year. Just think of all the plastic pots you throw away or are piling up in your shed without a thought to where they will end up.
Black plastic pots containing carbon inks can take up to 450 years to degrade. They might be cheap to buy but if they end up in landfill they will cause damage for centuries to come, it’s like burying a time bomb for future generations.
Unlike biodegradable materials, plastic does not return nutrients to the soil, it contributes to microplastic pollution and affects wildlife and ecosystems. The creation of plastic pots relies on fossil fuels and adds to carbon emissions.
